Master of Arts in Philosophy The program leads to a general M.A. degree, though students can also opt for a concentration in Environmental Philosophy or in Ethics. The program offers courses in major traditional areas such as ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of religion, and the history of philosophy, as well as in more recently developed areas such as environmental philosophy, feminist philosophy, and applied ethics. Students will work with faculty members from both departments, located just eight miles apart in Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho. While students will be admitted through the Graduate School of either university, the degree will be granted by the university at which the student has enrolled, but with the transcript indicating the joint nature of the program. The two departments have a rich history of cooperation. The program is enhanced by the annual Inland Northwest Philosophy Conference, which brings to the campuses leading scholars from across the nation.
